What cookies are

When you visit a website, small data files may be placed on your device. These are cookies, and most websites use them.

They can:

  • remember your settings, so you do not have to set them again on your next visit
  • help us understand how the site is used, so we can improve it

Cookies used on this site are not used to identify you personally. You can manage or delete them from your browser at any time.

What this site uses

Strictly necessary. Cookies required for the site to work and to remain secure. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Analytics. We use analytics to understand which pages are read, how long visitors stay and how they arrived. This tells us which of our guides are useful and which need rewriting. Analytics collects the pages you visit, time on site, how you reached the site and what you click. It does not store your name, address or other identifying details, and we do not permit the analytics provider to use the data for its own purposes.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies on this site.

Embedded content

Pages may include embedded content from other websites — a map or a booking calendar, for example. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly, and the third-party site may collect data about you, use cookies and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, particularly if you have an account and are logged in to it.

Our booking page embeds Google Calendar's appointment scheduling. If you book a call through it, what you enter goes to Google and to us.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see which cookies are set, delete them individually or in bulk, block them from specific sites, or block them all. Look for "Privacy" or "Cookies and site data" in your browser's settings. Blocking all cookies will stop some websites from working properly.

For more general information about cookies and how to manage them, see AboutCookies.org.
